The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department are actively seeking a masked individual, referred to as the 'Porch Guy,' in connection with the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie from her Tucson, Arizona, residence. Guthrie, the mother of Today Show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on January 31, 2026, and officially reported missing on February 1. Investigators have released surveillance footage showing a suspect approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall with a medium build who appeared to tamper with a camera near Guthrie’s front door. The suspect’s face is largely concealed, complicating identification efforts. While online speculation has linked the description to Alex James Barnett, who was arrested on separate murder charges in Arizona, authorities emphasize there is no official proof connecting Barnett to the Guthrie case. The investigation has expanded to include forensic analysis of DNA and hair evidence found at the home, with genetic genealogy testing also being utilized. Authorities have received over 4,000 public tips and are reviewing thousands of surveillance videos. Recently, human remains were discovered near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard, approximately 15 miles from Guthrie’s home. However, officials state there is currently no indication that the remains are connected to Guthrie’s disappearance.
