Omaha Police are actively searching for 31-year-old McKenzie Wyatt, who is currently at large and wanted in connection with a violent 36-hour crime spree spanning Douglas and Sarpy counties. Previously known as Josiah Wyatt, the suspect is accused of committing multiple felonies, including grand theft auto, attempted home invasion, and fleeing from law enforcement. The incident timeline began in the early morning hours of June 30, when Wyatt allegedly broke into a residence near 83rd Street and Western Avenue through a closed window. Inside, the suspect located vehicle keys and stole a Ford Focus. Although the Focus was found parked nearby, Wyatt returned to the scene to steal a Ford Maverick. Surveillance footage from a Flock camera tracked the Maverick approximately 20 hours after the initial theft. A few hours later, a Sarpy County deputy initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle. The deputy reported that Wyatt displayed signs of intoxication and fled the scene in the Maverick while the deputy was standing at the driver's side window. The vehicle was subsequently discovered abandoned in a tree line with Wyatt's credit card left inside. Just three hours after the traffic stop, security cameras captured Wyatt moving through a Sarpy County neighborhood. By 8 a.m. on July 1, a victim reported that a Dodge Ram had been stolen. This truck was later found abandoned in Douglas County two days after the theft. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Omaha Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information that leads to Wyatt's arrest. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 402-444-STOP or through the P3 tips app. The Omaha Police Department and Omaha Crime Stoppers, a nonprofit affiliated with the department, are conducting the investigation. Reward payouts are funded through private donations and fundraising efforts rather than police budgets. Investigators emphasize that tips remain confidential and witnesses are never required to testify. The public is encouraged to assist law enforcement in locating Wyatt to ensure community safety.
