Rapid City Police are actively seeking the public's assistance in locating a suspect at large following an incident involving the discharge of firearms. The investigation centers on an event that occurred on Friday, August 21, at approximately 7:40 p.m. at 1314 Atlas Street in Rapid City. According to law enforcement, witnesses in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots. Police believe the shots were fired into the air, and to date, no injuries or property damage have been reported in connection with the incident. The suspect has been identified as Rodney Spottedelk, a 38-year-old man. Investigators believe Spottedelk was one of four occupants in a grey or silver Chevrolet Impala, which witnesses identified as the vehicle involved in the incident. The vehicle was subsequently located abandoned near Concourse Drive on the morning following the shooting. Authorities have not yet apprehended Spottedelk and continue to search for his whereabouts. The Rapid City Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the suspect's location or the incident to come forward.
