The investigation began on Sunday afternoon when deputies responded to a call regarding an unresponsive man at a residence located at 473 Oxendine Road. Upon arrival at approximately 4:48 p.m., law enforcement found the victim deceased and pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim has been identified by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office as 65-year-old William Eugene Bullard of Rowland. While the medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death, investigators have not yet disclosed the specific circumstances that led to the shooting or the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
