Sandusky County Sheriff Chris Hilton has issued an urgent warning to residents of Gibsonburg and Madison Township, Ohio, to shelter in place and lock their doors as law enforcement continues a large-scale manhunt for a suspect described as armed and dangerous. The search is focused on the northwest side of Gibsonburg, an area characterized by a quarry and wooded sections extending to County Road 42 in Madison Township. The suspect has been identified as Scott Dodd, a white male approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 150 pounds. Dodd is believed to be on foot and wearing blue jeans. He is wanted in connection with the stabbing of a female police officer, an incident that occurred in the parking lot of the Union Bank in Gibsonburg. Reports indicate that the officer was attacked with a knife, though the Sheriff has not confirmed the specific weapon used. The injured officer was transported to a Toledo Hospital and is currently undergoing surgery. Unconfirmed reports suggest the officer returned fire during the altercation. The investigation is being led by the Sandusky County Sheriff's Office, which is coordinating with the Gibsonburg Police, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Ohio Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Marshals Service from Lorain, and the OSP Aviation Unit, which has deployed a plane and helicopter to assist in the search. Three K9 units are also involved in the operation, with all officers working in pairs for safety. Sheriff Hilton noted that Dodd has a prior history of incarceration in the Sandusky County Detention Center. Law enforcement agencies are actively reviewing video footage of the incident. Residents are urged to remain indoors and avoid contact with the suspect. Anyone with information regarding Dodd's location is asked to call 911 immediately.
