Michael Rucker, a 36-year-old man from Baltimore, is currently at large and wanted by federal and local authorities in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Rucker is sought for failing to properly register as a sex offender, a violation of his supervised release terms following a prior conviction. He was originally convicted in 2018 for a felony third-degree sex offense involving a 14-year-old girl. Court documents detail that in June 2018, the victim's mother confronted Rucker, who was then 28 and a family friend, at his family's home in Cherry Hill. During this confrontation, the mother alleged that Rucker threatened her with a handgun, chased her, and forced her to hide in a dumpster before she called 911. Rucker was subsequently arrested, convicted, and sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release, with five years of the sentence suspended. He was released a few years later but continued to face legal issues. In January 2022, he was convicted of misdemeanor assault, and by April 2022, he was accused of failing to register as a sex offender. He violated these terms again in October 2022, leading to an active arrest warrant. Additionally, in December 2022, a warrant was issued after he failed to appear for trial on misdemeanor theft charges in the Towson area of Baltimore County. Rucker is listed on the sex offender registry as possibly homeless and is known to frequent the Lexington Market area, including West Lexington and North Eutaw Streets. Al Maresca, Senior Inspector with the U.S. Marshals Service, emphasized the public safety concern given Rucker's history of offenses against a minor and his transient nature.
