Cicero police have obtained a first-degree murder arrest warrant for Jonathan J. Carvillo-Varela, a 35-year-old native of Venezuela. The warrant is connected to the death of 40-year-old Eduardo Mora Martinez, which occurred on August 28, 2025. Investigators were called to the 2800 block of South Cicero Avenue after friends reported that Martinez had not shown up for work and was not answering his phone. Upon arrival, officers discovered Martinez on his bedroom floor with head injuries. Police noted that signs of a struggle were present at the scene. Carvillo-Varela remains at large, and authorities are actively seeking the public's assistance in locating him. Records indicate that Carvillo-Varela was previously arrested twice in 2025 for vehicle registration violations, specifically for having no valid registration and using a canceled or revoked registration.
