The incident took place on July 12, around 2:32 p.m., near the 7000 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, close to the intersection of Carey Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, surveillance video captured the suspect entering the establishment and filling a personal shopping cart with merchandise valued at hundreds of dollars. When the individual attempted to leave without paying and was confronted by loss prevention personnel, the suspect allegedly swung a bag of bananas and struck a security guard in the face before fleeing the scene. The suspect is described as a Black male in his 40s to 50s with a medium build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black baseball-style hat, a blue button-up shirt, black shorts, and white socks with black sandals. He was also observed pushing a gray personal shopping cart. Investigators have identified a vehicle associated with the suspect, described as a black Jeep, possibly a Renegade. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to locate the individual.
