The Kingston Police Department is actively searching for 51-year-old Karen Rezendes, the owner of an unlicensed in-home daycare facility known as 'Oh Nana’s Daycare' located in Kingston, Massachusetts. Rezendes is currently at large and remains wanted on an arrest warrant issued Thursday for various criminal offenses, including assault and battery against young children. The warrant follows a multi-week investigation that included forensic interviews, witness statements, video evidence review, and a search warrant executed at her residence earlier this week. Authorities allege that Rezendes physically abused multiple toddlers, aged one to four, over a period of several years. The alleged acts include violently shoving children to the ground, striking them with kitchen accessories, slamming them against counters, and locking a child in the attic. The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families and the Department of Early Education and Care also conducted investigations, resulting in the revocation of the daycare's license. Rezendes was not present when police executed the search warrant, and investigators believe she may have detected police activity through her home security system. Since that time, she has not returned to her residence or surrendered to authorities, despite multiple attempts by police to locate her and contact her attorney. The public is urged to notify Kingston Police if they have any information regarding Rezendes's whereabouts. Individuals are advised not to attempt to detain her. Additionally, police are seeking information from parents whose children attended the daycare and suspect abuse but have not yet spoken with detectives.
