Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Eduardo Acosta-Gonzalez, a 54-year-old youth softball coach from Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He is currently at large and faces serious criminal charges following an investigation into his conduct with underage athletes. The Vernon Hills Police Department confirmed that Acosta-Gonzalez is charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. These charges stem from allegations that he engaged in inappropriate physical contact and sent improper messages to a 12-year-old female player during the spring and summer of 2026. The incident occurred while the victim was training at a sports performance center in Vernon Hills, where Acosta-Gonzalez rented space to provide coaching services. The investigation was initiated after a referral from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Police stated that efforts to locate and arrest Acosta-Gonzalez have been unsuccessful, and he is believed to have left the state. Investigators have reason to believe he may have acted inappropriately toward additional underage athletes, prompting warnings to parents of other youth programs affiliated with him. Acosta-Gonzalez faces up to fifteen years in prison for each count if convicted.
