Dontrell Maurice Moss, a 40-year-old man from Thomson, is currently wanted by Richmond County Sheriff’s Office authorities following a violent incident that left a victim in critical condition. The shooting occurred just after midnight on Sunday at the Super 8 motel located in Augusta, Georgia. According to law enforcement reports, Moss was involved in an argument with 36-year-old Davon McCladdie. The confrontation escalated into a physical struggle over a firearm, during which Moss gained control of the weapon and discharged it multiple times, striking McCladdie in the upper body. The gunfire also impacted a blue Chevrolet Camaro parked in the motel lot, narrowly missing another individual who was inside the vehicle. Following the shooting, Moss fled the scene, and McCladdie was transported to Wellstar MCG Health in critical condition. Authorities have issued a wanted flyer describing Moss as armed and dangerous, urging the public to exercise extreme caution. Investigators note that Moss has a prior legal history, having been charged in 2020 with aggravated assault for a separate shooting incident in Augusta. That previous case was placed on the dead docket and remains inactive. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking information regarding Moss’s whereabouts.
