Wesley Al McDaniel, a 35-year-old resident of New Brighton, Minnesota, is currently at large and wanted by law enforcement following a violent attack that occurred on August 27. McDaniel is accused of stabbing two adults, a man and a woman, while they were asleep in their bed at a residence in Coon Rapids, located near Ibis Street NW. The incident began when the female victim awoke to hear her partner screaming, only to discover McDaniel stabbing him with a steak knife. As she attempted to intervene, McDaniel also attacked her. The male victim sustained more than 15 stab wounds, including severe lacerations to his neck, chest, and eye, leaving him in critical condition and requiring emergency surgery. The female victim suffered multiple stab wounds to her head and arms, with injuries severe enough to expose portions of her skull, necessitating emergency facial reconstruction surgery. According to the complaint filed in Anoka County Court, McDaniel fled the scene in the victims' Chevy Equinox. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Minneapolis on the same day, but McDaniel himself has not been located. He faces six felony charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree premeditated murder, two counts of first-degree assault causing great bodily harm, and two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon causing substantial bodily harm. Police note that McDaniel had been staying at the victims' home after being picked up from a treatment facility approximately one week prior to the attack. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding McDaniel's whereabouts to contact the Coon Rapids Police Department immediately. His current status remains unknown, and he is considered dangerous.
