Bowling Green police are searching for Cole Akins, a suspect wanted in connection with a violent assault that occurred outside the Uptown-Downtown Sports Bar and Grill. The incident took place in the early hours of August 23, 2026, when surveillance video captured a group leaving the establishment as tensions escalated into a physical altercation. According to law enforcement, Akins punched an adult male victim in the face, knocking him to the ground. The suspect stood over the victim briefly before walking away. Shortly thereafter, a second unidentified man picked up the victim and slammed his head back to the ground. This second individual also appeared to take a gold necklace from the victim before both suspects fled the scene. Bystanders immediately assisted the victim, monitoring his breathing until emergency medical crews arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he sustained injuries including unconsciousness, stitches, and other medical concerns. Police confirm the victim has since been released and returned home. Deputy Chief Adam Skaff confirmed that Akins has been identified and a warrant is currently active for his arrest on a felonious assault charge. Skaff stated that Akins has not been located as of the latest update. Investigators are continuing to follow up on leads and gathering additional video surveillance in an effort to identify the second suspect involved in the attack. The Bowling Green Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the location of Cole Akins or the second suspect to contact authorities. Detectives are actively working to resolve the case and bring all involved parties to justice.
