Sage Spang, a man wanted in connection with a possible homicide in Billings, Montana, remains at large on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Lame Deer. Bounty hunter Leeland Chapman, known for his appearances on "Dog the Bounty Hunter," spent over two weeks tracking Spang to the reservation, identifying his presence at various locations including a gas station, parking lot, and bar. Despite Chapman successfully locating the suspect, no arrest has been made. Chapman stated that he is legally unable to arrest Spang on the reservation due to jurisdictional issues, noting that only the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the FBI have authority to make arrests there. Billings Police Department had been seeking Spang since January and July 2025. Northern Cheyenne Tribal President Gene Small confirmed that warrants are out for Spang and that the tribe is waiting for a judge to sign off on the arrest. Small expressed frustration over the delay, noting that Spang has continued to commit crimes while at large, including a recent accusation of assaulting another person. The Bureau of Indian Affairs declined to comment on the case when contacted by MTN. Chapman expressed deep frustration with the lack of action from authorities, describing the situation as if "nobody wants to do it."
