Authorities in California are searching for two individuals wanted in connection with the murder of a newborn infant. The suspects are 14-year-old mother and her 38-year-old father, Sergio Galves Perez. The pair is believed to be on the run together following the discovery of the baby, identified as Baby Angelita, who was found dead on the side of a road near Moss Landing on August 1. The infant was discovered with her umbilical cord still attached and signs of trauma. Arrest warrants have been issued for both suspects. Perez is wanted on multiple charges, including incest, while the 14-year-old is wanted on a murder charge. Investigators allege that Perez impregnated his daughter when she was 13 years old. Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto emphasized the urgency of locating the pair, stating that the 14-year-old is likely in danger and is also a victim of the circumstances. Sheriff Nieto described Perez as a serious felon offender who betrayed the trust placed in him by his child. The investigation received a significant boost when Flock cameras identified a vehicle registered to Perez and his wife, Ofelia Garcia Ortega. Ortega has since been arrested and charged with child endangerment. Deputy Chief Eric Bixler noted that the camera footage was instrumental in solving the case quickly. Authorities are urging the public to assist in locating the 14-year-old to ensure her safety and to allow her to provide her side of the story.
