The Toledo Police Department has identified and released the name of a suspect wanted in connection with a serious hit-and-run incident that resulted in injuries to U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur and her campaign manager, Kegan Zimmerman. The suspect is identified as 23-year-old Jahiem D. Wright. Authorities state that Wright is currently at large and has been charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular assault and one count of failure to stop after an accident. Police confirmed that Wright is not in custody as of the release of this information. The incident occurred on August 2, 2026, near the intersection of North Detroit Avenue and Central Avenue in Toledo. At the time of the crash, Representative Kaptur was traveling to a church service. Upon impact, the at-fault driver fled the scene, leaving Kaptur and Zimmerman to be transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Both victims were subsequently released from the hospital, with Kaptur entering physical rehabilitation one week after the event.
