Authorities in Rohnert Park, California, are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a violent carjacking incident that occurred last week. The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety received a report at 7:08 p.m. on Wednesday regarding the crime, which took place at the Office Depot parking lot located at 321 Rohnert Park Expressway. The victim, identified as a resident of Petaluma, was walking to her vehicle when she was approached by a male suspect. According to officials, the man demanded the victim's car and subsequently pushed her before fleeing the scene in the stolen vehicle. Investigators have released a description of the suspect, identifying him as a Black man with short, curly hair. He is described as standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and was wearing a black coat and black pants at the time of the incident. Following the carjacking, officers initiated a pursuit of the stolen vehicle, receiving assistance from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office's Henry-1 helicopter and other law enforcement agencies. The pursuit extended toward Richmond, but officers eventually lost sight of the vehicle. The stolen car was later discovered abandoned in Richmond, where officers recovered it and returned it to the victim. The suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
