The Magnolia Police Department is actively searching for 53-year-old Gerardo Emanuel Olvera, a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on August 30, 2026. Olvera, who resides in the Magnolia area, is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Authorities have identified him as the individual responsible for the deaths of a 16-year-old boy and the wounding of two 50-year-old men near the 400 block of East Sandy Street in Duplin County, North Carolina. According to police reports, the incident began with a disagreement between the teenage victim and Olvera. Olvera initially left the scene but returned minutes later armed with a firearm, during which time he shot the victims. The investigation indicates the shooting was targeted at specific individuals. Olvera fled the scene in a 2009 Ford Flex bearing North Carolina license plate RHZ-7826. Law enforcement has noted that Olvera has a history of using aliases, including Alfred Molina, Jimenez, and Olera, in previous encounters with law enforcement. He is currently wanted on multiple serious charges, including murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
