Shawano police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery and shooting that occurred Wednesday night at a local gas station. The incident took place at People’s Express, located at 716 S. Main St., around 9:30 p.m. According to the Shawano Police Department, officers responded to reports of shots fired at the establishment. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a gas station employee who had been shot in the shoulder. The suspect had already fled the scene before police arrived. Authorities confirmed that the victim sustained a gunshot wound but that the injury is not considered life-threatening. The condition of the employee was not immediately disclosed. In their investigation, the Shawano Police Department has released a photograph of the suspect, as well as an image of the long-barreled handgun allegedly used in the crime. The suspect is currently at large, and police are urging the public to remain vigilant. The Shawano Police Department was assisted in the response by the Shawano and Menominee County sheriff’s offices, Shawano Ambulance, and the Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department. Investigators are actively seeking information from the community to help locate the individual responsible for the shooting.
