Cocoa Beach police are actively searching for a male suspect wanted in connection with the willful destruction of a custom-made statue outside the Cosmik Tiki business located on North Atlantic Avenue. The incident occurred early in the morning around 1:20 a.m. on August 27. Surveillance video obtained by investigators captures the alleged suspect, described as a shirtless man, toppling the large spaceman statue. According to business owners Kevin Key and Noel Heik, the suspect grabbed the statue, shook it violently, jumped onto its hands, and levered it over, causing it to smash against the ground. The owners state that the custom-built statue is shattered beyond repair, with the hands, face, and neck all broken. The estimated damage is at least $15,000. In addition to destroying the statue, the suspect was observed tearing up campaign signs in the vicinity. Police have charged the individual with felony criminal mischief. Investigators have also identified a second man seen with the suspect during the incident as a person of interest. The Cocoa Beach Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the suspect or the person of interest to come forward.
