New York City police are actively searching for a suspect accused of a violent assault against a 90-year-old woman on a Brooklyn sidewalk. The incident occurred earlier this week, specifically just before 10 a.m. on Monday, outside 501 Brighton Beach Avenue. According to surveillance video obtained by News 12 and reported by Fox News, the suspect approached the elderly victim as she walked along the pavement. The footage captures the man pushing what appears to be a discarded baby crib filled with debris before suddenly lifting the object and hurling it directly at the woman. The force of the impact knocked the 90-year-old to the ground. Following the attack, the suspect was seen calmly continuing to walk away from the scene without stopping. First responders arrived at the location and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island. Police have confirmed that the woman is currently in stable condition. Law enforcement officials have stated that they have not yet identified a motive for the unprovoked attack, and it remains unclear whether the suspect and the victim knew each other previously. The suspect is described as wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and white sneakers during the incident. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) has released a photograph of the individual and is urging anyone with information regarding his identity or whereabouts to come forward. Residents are asked to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online through the Crime Stoppers website or by messaging @NYPDTips on X. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to look for the man responsible for this assault.
