TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Police have identified 23-year-old Jaheim Wright as the suspect in a serious traffic collision that involved U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur. The incident occurred on August 2 in the 3200 block of N. Detroit Avenue. According to police reports, Representative Kaptur was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Kegan Zimmerman when another vehicle entered their path, resulting in a crash. Authorities believe Wright was the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision. Following the investigation, arrest warrants have been issued for Wright on two counts of aggravated vehicular assault, classified as second-degree felonies, and one count of failure to stop after an accident, which is a fourth-degree felony. Wright remains at large as of the latest report. Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle stated that investigators have remained focused on the case from the beginning and that the identification of the suspect and issuance of warrants mark an important step forward. The Chief thanked the community for their cooperation and noted that the department looks forward to seeing the case through to resolution.
