San Antonio police are searching for one suspect following a deadly home invasion and shootout on the city’s East Side that occurred Thursday night. The incident began around 9:13 p.m. when officers responded to the 1000 block of Lamar Street. Authorities report that a 40-year-old resident and a 40-year-old male suspect were inside the residence when a second, unidentified male suspect forced entry with a handgun. A struggle over the weapon resulted in a discharge, and the first suspect also opened fire at the resident during the confrontation. Following the exchange of gunfire, both suspects fled the scene on foot. Police later located the second suspect dead from a chest wound behind a home in the 1200 block of Hays Street. The first suspect remains at large and is the subject of the ongoing manhunt. The 40-year-old resident was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the ankle and a grazed arm. Investigators are actively seeking the unidentified male suspect who remains free. The San Antonio Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the at-large suspect to come forward. This case is currently under active investigation by local law enforcement.
