Dilshod Boronov, a 26-year-old commercial truck driver originally from New York, remains at large and is the subject of an active arrest warrant following a fatal multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 80 in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. The incident, which occurred in early 2025, involved Boronov operating a white Freightliner semitrailer under adverse winter weather conditions. According to an affidavit filed in Sweetwater County Circuit Court, Boronov allegedly traveled at excessive speeds through a construction zone, failing to adjust for icy roads and reduced visibility. Witnesses reported that the semitrailer was traveling significantly faster than the posted variable speed limit of 45 mph, with one observer describing the vehicle as 'flying' and unable to stop. The truck plowed through a line of six vehicles, initiating a severe chain-reaction crash. The collision resulted in the death of 23-year-old Cristobal Jara Garcia and left five others injured, including one driver who suffered a mild traumatic brain injury, whiplash, and other lingering health issues. In addition to the fatal crash, the affidavit details a post-accident confrontation where Boronov allegedly attempted to force entry into the vehicle of a witness who had called 911. The witness locked his doors and brandished a handgun to deter Boronov, who then fled the scene. Wyoming Highway Patrol investigators were unable to locate Boronov despite cooperation from his employer, leading to the issuance of the warrant. Boronov now faces serious felony charges, including aggravated homicide by vehicle and aggravated assault and battery, as well as misdemeanor counts for failing to exercise extreme caution and not wearing a seat belt. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison for the homicide charge and up to 10 years for the assault charge.
