Authorities are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Friday afternoon at the Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown Heights, New York. The incident resulted in two individuals sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. According to police reports, the suspect, described as a Hispanic male standing five feet eight inches tall with a medium build and short black hair, approached a couple in the mall's parking lot. The individual was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and had his face covered by a black mask. He brandished a handgun, demanded an undetermined amount of money, and subsequently fled the scene on a black stand-up scooter. Following the robbery, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the area, including the Yorktown Police Department, New York State Police, Westchester County Police, Westchester County Police Aviation Unit, Carmel Police Department, and Putnam Sheriff’s Department. Patrols were dispatched to the shopping center located off Route 6, as well as roads near the Putnam-Westchester border, after the suspect was last seen heading toward Mahopac. Police helicopters and ground units scoured the vicinity in an effort to locate the individual, who successfully evaded capture. The investigation remains active, with police continuing to follow credible leads and tips from the public.
