Lee County deputies are actively searching for Elvin Callejas Cerrato, a 26-year-old man from Lehigh Acres, who is currently at large after failing to appear in court. Cerrato was originally arrested in June following an incident where he allegedly fired a BB gun at a Lee County Sheriff's Office drone. According to reports from Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, deputies were conducting aerial surveillance near a canal bank in Lehigh Acres when they observed Cerrato and a group of men. The drone's camera captured Cerrato raising a BB gun and discharging two shots toward the aircraft. Following the incident, deputies responded to the scene and took Cerrato into custody. He was held in jail for three days before being released on the condition that he appear for his scheduled court date. However, Cerrato failed to show up, prompting authorities to issue a warrant for his arrest. He is now wanted on charges of shooting at an aircraft. Cerrato is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. His last known residence was in Lehigh Acres. Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward.
