The Houston Police Department is actively searching for an unidentified driver who remains at large following a fatal vehicle collision in northeast Houston. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, around 3 a.m., on the 2200 block of Clinton Drive. According to officials, a Galena Park Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop for speeding, but the driver allegedly fled the scene. First responders reported that the suspect vehicle was traveling at speeds of at least 80 miles per hour during the pursuit. The chase ended when officers lost sight of the suspect, only to later discover the crashed vehicle. Upon arrival, authorities found a passenger deceased inside the car. Sergeant Thomas Fendia of the Houston Police Department confirmed that the driver had exited the vehicle and fled before officers could establish a perimeter, leaving the suspect's whereabouts unknown. HPD has assumed lead investigative status and is processing the vehicle for DNA evidence to identify both the driver and the deceased passenger. The number of occupants in the vehicle is still under determination. The department is urging the public to remain vigilant and contact HPD with any information regarding the suspect's location or identity. This case involves serious charges related to fleeing police and resulting homicide, and the suspect is considered dangerous and at large.
