According to family members and law enforcement, Garcia had welcomed Navarro into her home after he claimed he was robbed and needed assistance. He stayed for six days, during which he allegedly became demanding and took over the household. When Garcia asked him to leave, Navarro waited until she was asleep on the couch and attacked her with a metal baseball bat. Relatives state that Navarro beat her for hours, pausing when she lost consciousness and resuming when she woke, until he believed she was dead. He fled the scene with her phone, credit cards, keys, and e-bike. Neighbors requested a welfare check, leading deputies to discover Garcia with severe injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, brain bleed, multiple broken bones, and deep lacerations requiring extensive stitches. She remained in the hospital with stabilized but critical condition. Navarro remains at large, and authorities warn of potential danger to the public.
