On the evening of September 6, 2026, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence located in the 1000 block of North Gazley Road in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a female suspect who had fled the scene in a sub-compact vehicle. The 34-year-old woman from Canyonville was apprehended during a traffic stop and charged with conspiracy to commit a Class C felony and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. She is currently detained without bail. Inside the home, the victim reported that two males had been present; one had fled on foot while the other’s location was unknown. Deputies deployed K9 Zoro to search the residence. After the canine indicated the presence of fresh human scent in the surrounding area, the K9 tracked a suspect through a large field. Approximately 15 yards from the initial tracking point, a 50-year-old man from Canyonville emerged from tall grass with his hands raised. He was taken into custody and charged with second-degree burglary. He is also detained without bail. Despite continued searches by deputies and K9 Zoro, the second male suspect involved in the incident remains at large. The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement agencies, including the Myrtle Creek Police and Cow Creek Tribal Police, are assisting with the case. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the second suspect to contact them at 541-440-4471.
