Authorities are actively searching for an unidentified suspect responsible for the fatal shooting of Claiborne County Sheriff’s Deputy Terrian Bailey. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on September 7, 2026, when deputies responded to a large crowd at a convenience store in Claiborne County, Mississippi. During the response, Deputy Bailey, 45, was shot and later died at a hospital. A female bystander was also struck by gunfire but sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is leading the case, with support from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible. Retired FBI Special Agent Rich Kolko, who is assisting with the investigation, emphasized that authorities are working through a massive volume of information, including tips, videos, and digital evidence.
