Lester Perks, a 45-year-old man described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, remains at large following a day of widespread vandalism in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. Authorities have classified Perks as armed and dangerous, noting that he is believed to still be in possession of the claw hammer used to inflict damage. The incident began early Wednesday morning around 5:43 a.m. in the small city of Irvington and continued into the afternoon. Perks is accused of targeting multiple vehicles, including at least three police vehicles, two city trucks, fire department vehicles, post office vehicles, and several private resident vehicles. Additionally, an ATM machine sustained reported damage. The destruction was described as extending all over town rather than being confined to a single area. Due to the severity of the situation, Breckinridge County Schools initially issued a two-hour delay before canceling classes completely. A shelter-in-place order was issued for residents within the city limits, which was lifted around 2 p.m. on the same day. Court records indicate that Perks is currently on probation for a 2024 criminal mischief case originating in Hart County, where he was involved in an incident involving soap placed in a gas tank. The search for Perks has drawn significant resources, with the FBI and several other agencies involved in the manhunt. Officer Dan McCubbin of the investigating agency noted that the number of police officers present in Irvington that morning exceeded the total in the city's history.
