The Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking the public's assistance in locating Manjit Singh Bedi, a 65-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen and former grocery store operator. Bedi is currently at large and believed to be in India. He is wanted in connection with a federal fraud scheme that allegedly defrauded the government of at least $600,000 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Bedi operated the Asian Grocery Store in Tacoma, Washington. Between March 2024 and June 2025, investigators allege that Bedi improperly swiped customers' electronic benefit transfer cards, providing them with cash instead of food, and retained half of the proceeds for himself. Following his indictment, Bedi was released into the community under specific conditions, including surrendering his passport and remaining within Washington state. However, authorities state that Bedi violated these terms by traveling to Canada and subsequently fleeing to India. A federal arrest warrant was issued on May 21, 2026, by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, charging him with violating his conditions of supervision. Bedi is described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The FBI has posted a reward of up to $150,000 for information that leads to his arrest and conviction.
