The Federal Bureau of Investigation has announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Alberto Perez-Elias, a fugitive currently at large and listed on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. Perez-Elias, a man in his mid-50s, is charged in connection with a violent robbery at Tio Jewelers in Cape Coral, Florida. The incident occurred on January 6, when Perez-Elias and an accomplice broke through the wall of a vacant business adjacent to the jewelry store. Once inside, the two men held the store manager at gunpoint, forced access to the safe, and stole jewelry valued at more than $1 million. Following the robbery, all four individuals involved fled to the Miami area. While three of the co-conspirators have since been arrested, Perez-Elias remains free. He is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, and was born in Cuba with known ties to Hialeah and Miami. He faces serious federal charges, including conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, interference with commerce by robbery, and use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. If convicted, Perez-Elias could face up to 20 years in federal prison, plus a consecutive seven-year sentence for the firearm charge. The FBI has emphasized that Perez-Elias is believed to be armed and dangerous.
