According to a joint statement released by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Office, Crane was with Jones during her absence. The situation escalated when law enforcement engaged with the pair, who subsequently evaded capture. Notably, on Monday, Jones and Crane fled on foot following a vehicle wreck. The search concluded on Thursday, September 10, when Crane was located and recovered safely. Her recovery occurred shortly after law enforcement obtained an arrest warrant for Jones. Prior to her recovery, authorities had contacted Jones by phone on Wednesday, issuing a clear warning that if Crane was not returned to her family, he would face kidnapping charges. At this time, Jones is believed to be in the Bethlehem community within Monroe County. He remains at large and is considered dangerous.
