Illinois authorities are actively searching for a group of at least ten masked individuals who remain at large following a violent armed robbery at a local hotel early Thursday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 4:14 a.m. at the Wyndham Garden Elk Grove Village/O’Hare, located in the 2500 block of Landmeier Road in Elk Grove Village. According to Deputy Police Chief Scott Eisenmenger, the suspects, who were wearing masks and baseball caps, entered the hotel bar area wielding baseball bats. They forcibly removed the cash register behind the bar, stole an ATM machine, and damaged four gambling machines, successfully accessing cash from two of the devices before fleeing the scene. Witnesses reported seeing the suspects escape in a black Dodge Durango. Shortly after the robbery, Cook County Sheriff’s Police and Illinois State Police notified local officers that a vehicle matching the description had crashed into a wall along Interstate 90 near Lee Street. The occupants fled the crash scene on foot and have not been apprehended as of Friday. The vehicle was towed to the police station for processing. No injuries were reported in either the robbery or the subsequent crash, and police have stated there is no immediate threat to the community. Both the robbery and the crash remain under active investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects or the stolen items to contact the Elk Grove Village Police Department. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous, and the public is advised to exercise caution. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and analyzing evidence from the crash site to identify the individuals involved. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of local and state law enforcement to track down individuals involved in violent crimes and recover stolen property. The community is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
