Cincinnati police are actively searching for a suspect following a shooting incident that occurred Friday afternoon along Short Vine, a location near the University of Cincinnati campus. The victim, a man whose identity has not been publicly released, was struck in the stomach by a single gunshot wound. According to officers, the suspect approached the victim, who was standing in front of the Steak and Lemonade restaurant, fired the shot, and immediately fled the scene. The victim was transported to UC Medical Center, where he is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a white sweatshirt, black pants, and no shoes. He was last seen running in a northbound direction from the scene. Police have characterized the shooting as an isolated incident and stated there is no ongoing threat to the general public. This event marks the sixth shooting since students returned to campus and the fourth resulting in injury. In response to recent violence, authorities have previously blocked off streets near Calhoun Street to deter crime, a measure they plan to continue. The Cincinnati Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the suspect's whereabouts to contact them. The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement seeks to apprehend the individual responsible for the shooting.
