A suspect remains at large following a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the parking lot of the Potomac Woods Plaza shopping center in Potomac, Maryland. According to Montgomery County Police spokesperson Degan Bartels, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Seven Locks Road shortly after 2 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders discovered an adult man suffering from serious injuries. Despite immediate medical aid provided by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased man has not yet been released, as police are currently notifying next of kin. The Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case. As of Monday morning, authorities have shared limited details regarding the incident and have not yet identified the suspect. However, local business owners have provided context suggesting the violence may have originated from an argument at a bar within the plaza that was broadcasting a UFC fight. Charles Slaughter, general manager at Brooklyn’s Deli located in the shopping center, told Fox 5 that he believed the shooting stemmed from this altercation. This incident marks the second homicide in Montgomery County in September, following a separate shooting in Silver Spring on Thursday that resulted in the death of Rafael Jeremias Brewster. Police continue to search for the suspect involved in the Potomac Woods Plaza shooting.
