North Carolina authorities are actively seeking information regarding the unsolved homicide of 31-year-old Don'Tae De'Charles Nixon. Nixon, a UPS package handler, was fatally shot in his vehicle on the morning of December 3, 2024, in Castle Hayne, New Hanover County. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting on Stoney Road around 2 a.m. on that date, where they found Nixon deceased from gunshot wounds. He had just entered his vehicle to leave for work when the incident occurred. The suspect is currently at large and has not been arrested or charged. To assist in the investigation, Governor Josh Stein has announced that the state is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the shooting. The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has released video footage of a person of interest, described as a man wearing a black hoodie, a gray hoodie, and white shoes, walking in the area at the time of the crime. Family members, including Nixon's cousin Jimmy Hawkins, have publicly urged the community to come forward with any details, no matter how small, that could help identify the perpetrator. Investigators emphasize that even minor information could be the critical link in solving this case.
