They evacuated with their dog, Sapelo, but Ball briefly returned with a garden hose in an attempt to combat the flames before fleeing as the fire department arrived. Another resident in the heavily damaged Unit 6 reported hearing what she initially thought was an explosion, though Capt. Weaver clarified that no signs of an explosion were found at the scene. The fire marshal continues to review the evidence provided by the bakery owner and other witnesses.
