A Florissant Police detective was injured after being dragged by a suspect’s vehicle during an attempted arrest at a gas station in St. Louis County on Monday. The incident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. at a Vinita Park gas station located in the 8400 block of Page Avenue. According to police reports, detectives from the Florissant Police Department were attempting to apprehend a suspect who was already wanted for felony drug and weapon charges. As officers moved to make the arrest, the suspect allegedly reversed the vehicle, causing it to drag one of the detectives. A second detective responded by firing a single shot, which struck the back window of the car. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene. Investigators later located the vehicle abandoned approximately one mile from the gas station. The suspect remains at large and is currently wanted by law enforcement. The injured officer was transported to a local hospital and was treated for minor injuries. The St. Louis County Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is currently investigating the shooting incident.
