Montgomery County Police are actively searching for an unidentified suspect following a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the parking lot of the Potomac Woods Plaza shopping center. The incident took place shortly after 2 a.m. in the 1000 block of Seven Locks Road in Potomac, Maryland. Upon receiving reports of gunfire, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to the scene, where they discovered an adult male suffering from critical injuries. Despite immediate medical intervention, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Monday morning, authorities have not released the identity of the deceased man, stating that details will be disclosed only after next of kin have been notified. No information regarding the suspect’s identity, physical description, or motive has been made public. The investigation is being handled by the department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit. While specific details remain withheld, Charles Slaughter, general manager of Brooklyn’s Deli located within the plaza, suggested the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute related to a UFC fight being aired at a nearby bar, Quincy’s Potomac Bar & Grille. This homicide marks the second fatal shooting in Montgomery County for the month of September, following the death of 32-year-old Rafael Jeremias Brewster in Silver Spring earlier in the week. The public is urged to remain vigilant and contact authorities with any information regarding the suspect's whereabouts. Police continue to pursue leads but have not yet located the individual responsible for the shooting.
