The Federal Bureau of Investigation has issued a wanted alert for Thomas Allen Gilkeson, also known by the alias Jon Smith, a Carrollton, Texas, architect. Gilkeson is currently at large and considered armed and dangerous after failing to appear for his arraignment in federal court. He is charged with being an accessory after the fact and failure to timely appear. Gilkeson allegedly advised his former employee, Jesse McCormack, on how to evade federal authorities while McCormack was under investigation for sexually exploiting children and downloading child pornography. The FBI states that Gilkeson provided detailed instructions to McCormack, including advice to disembark from a cruise ship in a foreign port and never return, as well as suggestions to wander into Canada or burrow underground. Gilkeson also devised a scheme to pay McCormack remotely through a fake company to maintain anonymity. Prior to his disappearance, Gilkeson withdrew approximately $100,000, left goodbye letters for his family, and purchased weapons. He was last seen near Streetman, south of Corsicana, where his ankle monitor was found cut off. Gilkeson, the owner of Tag & Associates, had previously been released on conditions requiring him to remain in North Texas, but he absconded before his June 8 court date. The FBI urges anyone with information regarding Gilkeson's whereabouts to contact the FBI Dallas field office immediately. McCormack, the employee Gilkeson attempted to help, was arrested in Wyoming and later pleaded guilty to federal charges, receiving a sentence of over 17 years in prison.
