Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division homicide detectives are actively searching for Shayan Solimani Damabi, a 21-year-old resident of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Damabi is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Nicholas Njuki. According to police reports, the incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, September 13, at approximately 2:02 a.m. in the parking lot of Quincy’s Potomac, located in the 1000 block of Seven Locks Road in Rockville. Officers responded to the scene and found Njuki suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by first responders, Njuki was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that Njuki and Damabi had been involved in a confrontation inside the restaurant earlier that evening. Njuki and an unidentified companion subsequently left the establishment in a vehicle. Police allege that Njuki and his companion later encountered Damabi near the intersection of Fortune Terrace and Northside Park Boulevard. During this encounter, Njuki exited his vehicle and approached Damabi’s car. Damabi allegedly shot Njuki and then fired at Njuki’s companion, who managed to drive away. Damabi then fled the area.

On Tuesday, September 15, detectives secured an arrest warrant charging Damabi with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. Damabi is described as approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 205 pounds. He may be driving a red 2018 four-door Acura TLX with Maryland license plate 3GD6732. His current whereabouts remain unknown. The Montgomery County Department of Police is urging anyone with information regarding the homicide or Damabi’s location to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 1-866-411-8477 or submit a tip through their website.
