Cleveland police are actively searching for one or more suspects wanted in connection with two separate but linked carjackings that occurred in Cleveland, Ohio, on Monday night into early Tuesday morning. The incidents took place on the city's east and west sides, with the first reported around 10 p.m. near East 40th Street and St. Clair Avenue, and the second occurring approximately two hours later around 2 a.m. on the 3100 block of Fulton Road. In both cases, victims reported having their vehicles taken at gunpoint. Investigators believe the same individual is responsible for both crimes, utilizing the vehicle stolen in the first incident to facilitate the second. Through the use of witness statements, the Real-Time Crime Center, and Flock camera license plate readers, officers tracked the vehicles to the 500 block of East 112th Street. Upon approach, suspects fled from one vehicle, while the driver of the second vehicle struck a police cruiser and crashed into a telephone pole before escaping. Both stolen vehicles and a firearm were recovered at the scene, and no injuries were reported. The suspects remain at large as the Cleveland Police Public Information Office, led by Sgt. Freddy Diaz, processes the recovered items for DNA and fingerprints. Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The agency emphasizes the availability of anonymous tips to help identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for these violent crimes.
