Atlanta police are actively searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a violent robbery that occurred late on July 25 in downtown Atlanta. The incident took place around 10:40 p.m. near Baker Street, close to Centennial Park, where the victim, identified only as Oscar, was preparing to ride his e-scooter. According to police reports, the suspect approached Oscar, punched him in the face, and knocked him unconscious. The attacker initially fled the scene but returned shortly thereafter to steal a box of cigarettes and a box of alcohol from the victim's unconscious body. The assault resulted in a severe traumatic brain injury for Oscar, who required emergency surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital. This marks the second brain surgery for the victim, who is a survivor of stage four lung and brain cancer. Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect, which the Atlanta Police Department released earlier this week to aid in identification. The victim, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described waking up in the ICU with tubes in his mouth and having no memory of the attack itself. He expressed gratitude to the unidentified individual who called emergency medical services. Investigators are urging the public to assist in locating the suspect. The Atlanta Police Department has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Additionally, Atlanta Crime Stoppers is accepting tips regarding the case. Residents with information about the suspect's identity or whereabouts are encouraged to contact Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477). The suspect remains at large as the investigation continues.
