Tempe Police are actively searching for a suspect following a shooting incident that occurred just after midnight on September 20. The altercation began as a fight between a group of men outside an In-N-Out burger joint located near the intersection of South Calle Los Cerros and Baseline Road. During the confrontation, one individual pulled a firearm, leading to a physical struggle over the weapon. The gun discharged during the scuffle, striking another man with bullet fragments. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment but has since been released. The suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived on the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim or the suspect, nor have they disclosed the extent of the injuries sustained by the victim. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the suspect's whereabouts or the events leading up to the shooting to come forward. This incident follows a pattern of violence at local In-N-Out locations, with another brawl reported in July at a different Tempe location near Rural Road and Playa del Norte Drive, where customers had to take cover and all involved parties fled before police could intervene. Investigators are currently reviewing evidence and looking for witnesses who may have captured the incident on video or have details about the individuals involved. The Tempe Police Department continues to treat this as an active investigation and is seeking public assistance to locate the armed suspect.
