Authorities in Incline Village, Nevada, are seeking information regarding an unidentified suspect accused of poisoning nearly 30 pine trees at Burnt Cedar Beach. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the suspect is currently at large and has not been arrested or charged. The alleged criminal activity involves a series of incidents dating back to 2022, with the most recent occurrences taking place in May, July, and August of 2026. Investigators have documented 28 affected trees across three separate incidents in the same area and believe the cases are connected. The vandals allegedly drilled dozens of holes into the tree trunks and poured substances to kill the trees, resulting in an estimated $300,000 loss. Specifically, 72 holes were drilled in 28 trees, with three of the 16 trees targeted this summer already showing significant signs of distress. A community group known as Friends of Burnt Cedar Beach, composed of private donors and local residents, has offered a $147,000 reward to help unmask the suspect. This reward consists of $122,000 from the group and $25,000 from the Incline Village General Improvement District. The area, nicknamed “Income Village,” is home to several high-profile billionaires. The investigating agency is the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, which has released photos of the damaged trees and is urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the identification and capture of the suspect.
