Philadelphia police are actively searching for at least two men believed to be responsible for a series of strong-arm robberies targeting women in Northeast Philadelphia. Investigators from the Northeast Detective Division have confirmed four separate incidents occurring over the past six weeks, with the most recent attack captured on surveillance video outside a Bank of America branch in the 9500 block of Bustleton Avenue on August 21. The suspects appear to be selective in their victimization, specifically targeting women who are either entering or leaving financial institutions. According to Captain Jack Ryan of the Northeast Detectives, the perpetrators operate using vehicles, with at least one vehicle involved in the crimes being stolen. Police note that the suspects utilized different vehicles during each robbery to evade identification. The attacks took place in broad daylight between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. During the incidents, three victims were pushed to the ground, resulting in minor injuries. One of the victims is an 80-year-old woman. Authorities believe that at least two individuals are involved in the crimes, including a getaway driver, and are asking the public for assistance in identifying the man shown in surveillance images who is believed to have carried out the physical robberies. Detectives are continuing to investigate potential connections to other crimes but have confirmed that the four robberies are linked by geographic area and modus operandi. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the suspects or their vehicles to contact the Northeast Detective Division immediately to help bring the individuals to justice.
