Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Suffolk County Police Financial Crimes Unit are actively seeking the public's assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection with an identity theft and bank fraud scheme. The investigation centers on an incident that occurred in August, specifically beginning on August 19, 2026. According to reports, a 79-year-old woman residing in the Shirley area was contacted by an individual posing as a representative from TD Bank. The caller falsely claimed that fraudulent activity had been detected on the victim's account and instructed her to surrender her debit card to a man who would arrive at her residence. The suspect allegedly arrived at the victim's home in a black Nissan Maxima, convincing her that he needed the card to track down the supposed fraud and that she would subsequently receive a new debit card. The following day, on August 20, approximately $4,200 was withdrawn from the victim's account at an ATM located in Shirley. This unauthorized withdrawal prompted the victim to contact law enforcement. The suspect is currently at large, and authorities are urging anyone with information regarding his identity or location to come forward. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
