The New York City Police Department has released new surveillance images seeking the identification of an armed suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Queens. The incident took place early Thursday morning, around 3:50 a.m., outside the Riviera Gentleman’s Club, located at the intersection of Steinway Street and 35th Avenue in the Astoria neighborhood. The victim has been identified as Hector Figuereo, a 49-year-old resident of Sunset Park, Brooklyn. According to law enforcement sources, Figuereo was standing outside the establishment when a masked and hooded individual approached him from behind. The suspect attempted to snatch jewelry from the victim before opening fire, striking Figuereo in the back. Despite being rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, Figuereo succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The released photographs capture critical moments of the crime, including an image of the gunman in the act of firing his weapon, a shot of him hunched over, and a depiction of his getaway vehicle. Authorities describe the getaway car as a white SUV that fled northbound on 37th Street following the shooting. As of Friday, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large. Investigators are currently working to determine if the victim and the shooter knew each other or if they were both patrons of the club. The NYPD is urging the public to review the released images and come forward with any information that could aid in the identification and apprehension of the gunman. Individuals with relevant information are asked to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or the Spanish-language line at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips may also be submitted anonymously through the Crime Stoppers website or via the NYPD’s official X account.
